Craik Cup Dinner 2022

THE CRAIK CUP DINNER

Friday 11th November saw the return of Hillhead Cricket Club’s Craik Cup Dinner to the main function room at Hughenden, Hillhead Sports Club.

Some 130 members and their guests enjoyed a wonderful evening of food, expertly prepared and served by Cafe Source Too, and post meal entertainment.

The Dinner was hosted and chaired by Des McKeown with principal speakers, George McNeill and Tam Cowan.

Among the auction items was a bat, autographed by the Scotland squad which took part in the 1999 Cricket World cup. The bat was donated by Joan Mclean, the widow of Malcolm, a Hillhead and WDCU stalwart.

Finally thanks from all to Richard Bond, the Cricket Club Dinner convener.

Craik Cup Winners 2022

There are three awards made annually at the Dinner.

The 2022 recipients were:

Player of the Year: Ross Jones

Young player of the Year: Jared Bartlett

The Malcolm Mclean Cup: Mike Ashworth

End of Season 2022 Quiz Night

Members and friends of Hillhead Cricket Club ( HCC ) came together recently in the Sports Club Bar at Hughenden for their end of season Quiz night.

Expertly hosted by former player and STV’s news presenter, Raman Bhardwaj, all attending experienced a very enjoyable evening.

The winning team – pictured below with Raman – included the HCC club Chair, James Thornhill ( centre ) and the evergreen Phil Murray. As part of the Vote of thanks, James presented gifts to Raman and Club Secretary, Bernie Mitchell, and thanked them for their support and help throughout the season. He also praised the excellent work undertaken by Adam Richardson on the Hughenden square and grounds.

Some £ 725 of funds for the Club were raised on the night.
